About NIYÉ
NIYÉ is more than an apparel brand, it is a celebration of identity, culture, and everyday life.
NIYÉ was founded by Tyler Rambeau, an enrolled member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, Bdewakantunwan (Isanti Dakota). Tyler is a mother, student, award-winning artist, and descendant of the Dakota, Lakota, and Ojibwe peoples. She is passionate about knowledge and preserving culture while creating opportunities for future generations through education, art, and community.
Tyler is a mother, student, and award-winning artist. Descended from tribes of the Midwest; Dakota, Lakota, and Ojibwe. She is focused on learning and bringing knowledge, access, and culture to our generations.
The name NIYÉ comes from the Dakota/Lakota language, carrying the meaning of "You are the one - It is you - You are the one to choose - You are the one to decide." It serves as a reminder that culture lives through the people who carry it forward each day.
Our mission is simple: create modern apparel inspired by Indigenous design that people can wear every day. We believe Native-inspired clothing shouldn't be limited to special events or celebrations. It should be comfortable enough for daily life while still honoring the traditions, artistry, and stories that inspire it.
Every design begins with intention. The Oyate – the People, were not always focused on the excess of something, but the mere fact that someone took the time to design, craft, create and attain something for you, with you in mind. That is how we show our love.
